Contributor Day

A working day. 25 teams. Newcomers welcome.

Sunday, August 16 · 9 AM – 5 PM MST

Free, separate registration from the main conference. Sit at a team table and contribute to WordPress directly — translation, code, design, support, documentation, accessibility, and more. You don't need to know PHP.

Two ways to participate

In person or remote

In person at the venue

Phoenix Convention Center. Includes lunch and snacks. Bring a laptop and a charger. Power and Wi-Fi at every table.

Doors open at 8:30 AM. Opening remarks at 9 AM. Teams break off shortly after.

Remote via Slack

Join the #contributor-day channel in the Make WordPress Slack. Each team has a sub-channel and a designated lead facilitating.

Welcome ceremony on Slack at 9 AM MST. Group photo (virtual) at 11:30 AM. Team work blocks throughout the day.

Settle in at your team's table. Meet your facilitators.

Opening remarks

Welcome from the Community squad. Day-of logistics, how teams work, where to find help.

9:30 AM – 11:45 AM

Morning work block

Teams start working. New contributors get onboarded. Facilitators help you find your first contribution.

11:45 AM

Group photo

Everyone outside (or in the lobby if too hot). The shot every WordCamp Contributor Day takes.

12:00 PM

Lunch

Catered lunch. Sit with your team or mix with another — lunch is the best networking window of the day.

1:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Afternoon work block

Teams resume. Most contributions ship by end of day.

4:30 PM

Team summaries

Each team shares what they accomplished. Quick, energetic, celebratory.

5:00 PM

End of day

Doors close at 5:30 PM. See you Monday for Showcase Day.

A laptop with a local WordPress dev server. Docker recommended — only required for Core, Design, or Meta teams. Other teams don't need it.
